The Story of the Parade

The Salute to Israel Parade is no stranger to New York, but this year, for the first time, it is coming to London and Manchester! This special one-off event will celebrate 60 years of the State of Israel and will be one of the largest gatherings in the world in support of the country.

The Salute to Israel Parade will be a public celebration of the 60th Anniversary and will demonstrate affirmation of solidarity with and support of Israel, as well as an expression of unity within the British Jewish community, transcending religious and political affiliations. The Parade itself will feature a procession featuring floats, marchers and bands performing, representing all parts of the British Jewish community.

This will be a historic and fun day for one and all, so do not miss out on this historic event.

The Parade & Grand Finale

The parade of floats, marching bands and all kinds of marvels will follow a route through central London for all to see and culminate in Trafalgar Square, where the floats will disperse and the show will begin! There will be a big stage area in Trafalgar Square from which there will be an international array of singing performances from some well known names, interspersed with a few key note speakers. The event will be a fun packed afternoon of entertainment, with something to suit everyone.

The parade will be from 12.00pm - 2.00pm and the Festive Rally in Trafalgar Square will be from 2.00pm onwards.

The Parade Route

Guests

Celebrities, artists, diplomats, public officials, community leaders, and special guests from Israel and other countries, march at the head of the Parade to Trafalgar Square, where they will continue participating in and viewing the celebrations.

Security

The security of the parade and safety of all the participants is something that we are taking very seriously. CST has already started discussions with the Metropolitan Police to undertake the necessary precautions so that all the participants can enjoy the day in safety and with peace of mind. CST has an extremely strong partnership with the police and they work together on numerous high-profile events throughout the year. CST draws on years of experience in communal security and draws on over 3,000 security volunteers who will be working side by side with police officers on the day.

The Delivery Group

The delivery group for Salute to Israel is made up of representatives from the Board of Deputies of British Jews, the Jewish Leadership Council, CST, UJIA, JNF UK, the Zionist Federation, Manchester Rep Council, United Synagogue, Movement for Reform Judaism and the Zionist Youth Council.
